New online activities of the sporting goods manufacturer started for the 2018 World Cup

70 years after its founding, the successful sporting goods manufacturer uhlsport breaks new ground in communication. With the start of the 2018 World Cup in Russia, the family company from Balingen, near Stuttgart, has implemented its new brand appearances. In the course of communication realignment, digital channels take centre stage.

In the future, we want an even more direct and intensive dialogue with our target groups,” Melanie Merz, Head of Marketing Communications at uhlsport and responsible for the new strategy, explains.

The appearance is based on the core values of the own brands: modern, technically innovative but still emotional. Besides being present on Facebook and Instagram with its accounts for uhlsport and Kempa, uhlsport is additionally present with its own appearance for goalkeepers (uhlsportgoalkeeper).

To further expand contact on equal footing with target groups affine to sports, uhlsport partners with different brand ambassadors on the net. On Instagram and YouTube, this includes Meti as popular protagonist with a large number of followers. Malcolm Little is on Instagram as newfound brand ambassador for uhlsport.

A current example is uhlsport’s approach to score with football fans with minimal website loading times during the World Cup. Many fans use their smart phones during game interruptions, only to cancel the loading process because it takes too long. With a speed index of 0.686 seconds, determined by the Hamburg-based speed specialist Baqend, uhlsport relegated all other established competitors with a considerable gap and caught the attention of the online scene.
